Oregon Debate to Disconnect from CARES Act

Oregon Tax Payment Deadline Delayed to July 15 Due to COVID-19

By: Aldrich

Last week, the IRS delayed tax filing and tax payment deadlines to July 15 without interest or penalties. As COVID-19 continues to impact taxpayers and businesses in new and evolving ways, states are following suit and pushing back tax deadlines.

On Wednesday, March 25 Governor Kate Brown announced that tax payment deadlines and personal filing deadlines for Oregon would also be delayed until July 15, 2020.

The Department of Revenue is expected to release further guidance later this week.

In addition to the tax deadline delay, Oregon is requiring insurance companies to extend their grace periods for premium payments, policy cancellations and nonrenewals, and extend deadlines for reporting claims through April 23.

The emergency order from the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services is targeted toward to helping Oregonians affected by job losses and business closures.
