Young Entrepreneurs Business Week (YEBW) is a week-long program for high school students which takes place at the University of Portland (UP), University of Oregon (UO), and Oregon State University (OSU) campuses. The aim of the program is to provide students with the financial literacy, business fundamentals, and confidence that they need to be self-sufficient and successful, thus priming the pipeline for the next generation of business and community leaders.
The AKT Manufacturing Group are sponsoring one high school student (provided they are the son or daughter of an employee within the manufacturing industry) to take part in YEBW (a $795 value). AKT is thrilled to provide a student with this opportunity as the firm takes great pride in supporting the growth of the manufacturing industry and educating business leaders of the future. Our firm exists to improve the lives of our clients, our people and our communities.
Scholarships are eligible for the sons or daughters of manufacturing employees
More on Business Week
During YEBW’s program, Business Week, students are placed in mock companies where they create management teams, develop mission statements, invent a product, and conduct the actual operation of their own business by competing in business simulations. However, the instruction goes far beyond the business curriculum. Designed to broaden the practical skill sets of each student, YEBW incorporates professional speakers and other interactive learning exercises such as mock interviews and networking events.
Why is AKT Offering this Scholarship?
The AKT Manufacturing Group closely follows the trends, challenges, and opportunities facing manufacturers today. There are a number of studies that report a misperception among youth about the manufacturing industry, despite it being a desirable profession. We believe that the students of individuals who work in manufacturing have a unique perspective and intimate knowledge of the industry. Attending a program such as Business Week gives these students a great opportunity to learn more about their parent’s profession and apply what they learn to the manufacturing industry in the U.S. today. For these reasons, the AKT Manufacturing Group is pleased to sponsor a high school student to attend YEBW.
