LAKE OSWEGO, OR, August 25, 2022—  A cherished Aldrich tradition, Action Day is an annual day of service, where each of our geographic locations volunteers together as a team. After two years of adapted, pandemic-friendly plans, we were thrilled to welcome the return of the 14th Annual Action Day in July. Aldrich organized group projects in Portland, Salem, and San Diego, while remote employees volunteered throughout the country.

“Serving our communities has been part of the fabric of our firm since we started in 1973,” said Melissa Berndt, Partner, HR + General Counsel. “Action Day is just one way we live out our commitment of stewarding our time and resources to support the communities we are fortunate to be located in. Bringing together our employees, along with their families and friends, is a magnetic experience that gives as much to the Aldrich culture as it does our community partners.”

The California team gardened, painted structures, and removed unwanted vegetation at the San Dieguito County Park. Known for its recreation opportunities and beautiful views since 1965, the park includes five miles of hiking trails, five playgrounds, a baseball field, a basketball court, a wedding gazebo, pavilions, picnic areas, and barbeques.

Our Salem volunteers boxed food for distribution at the Marion Polk Food Share, and cleaned the surrounding area to maintain food safety. Aldrich was proud to pack 18,438 pounds of food for our neighbors in need. In addition to distributing nutritious food to food pantries and meal sites, Marion Polk also operates an urban farm and community gardens to help address the root causes of hunger. 

Finally, in Portland, over 100 volunteers supported the Trillium Family Services by gardening, collecting donations, painting, and cleaning. Trillium is the only provider in Oregon that offers a full continuum of children’s mental and behavioral healthcare services.

I am amazed by the visible difference to the grounds after Action Day, accomplishing in one afternoon what would have taken our team a month. We are so grateful,” said Shanin Engman, Volunteer and Donor Engagement Manager, Trillium Family Services. 

While Action Day 2022 is complete, our commitment to our communities remains steadfast year-round.
